12mm PET strap is commonly used with semi-automatic arch strapping machines, tabletop strapping machines, and manual strapping tools. Some lighter automatic systems also accept 12mm strap. The critical check is that your machine's feed path, chute width, and tensioning mechanism are rated for the 12mm width and the specific thickness you are ordering.
12mm is typically suited to lighter loads — cartons, retail goods, and pallets that are stable and not subject to heavy transit stress. If you are strapping heavier pallets, irregular loads, or products that will go through multi-modal freight, a wider strap (16mm or 19mm) is likely more appropriate. If you are running a semi-automatic arch machine or using manual tools, embossed is generally preferred — the textured surface aids grip during tensioning and improves friction-weld seal performance. If you are using an automatic system, smooth is typically required to ensure consistent feed through the machine track. Confirm with your machine documentation or contact PACKOR.
